World Hearts Day celebrated by holding the Blood Donation Camp
To mark the occasion of World Heart Day falling on September 29, 2013, Rotary Club (Kharar, RI Distt. 3080), in association with NSS Club of Quest Group of Institutions organized a Blood Donation Camp at the college premises at Jhanjeri on September 24, 2013.
A special team from Department of Transfusion Medicine (Blood Bank), PGIMER (Chandigarh), rendered expert service for the camp. Arrangements for the Registration, Medical Examination, Hemoglobin Test, Donation of Blood and Refreshment for the donors were made by the volunteers. The donors were also given the certificates of blood donation by the PGI authorities as an honor to their selfless approach.
Chief-guest Bibi Harjinder Kaur -Chairperson Punjab Arts Council (Ex-Mayor Chandigarh) graced the occasion & appreciated the students for contributing to humanity & society. She applauded the Institution’s role for supporting such noble activities. She motivated students to donate blood and said it was the best one could give to humanity without losing anything.
S. Rajinder Singh Sohal (DSP, City Mohali), was the special guest of honour, congratulated the students of Quest College who came out in large numbers and actively volunteered and donated blood to make the blood donation drive a grand success. S.S.I. Singh Kora (President- Rotary Club Kharar) & S. Kamaldeep Singh Tiwana (Project Chairman) greatly admired the active participation and support from the students & staff.
Director Principal of College Dr.Raja Singh Khela told that the aim behind organizing this Blood Donation camp was to drive the message home to the youth, that blood donation improves the health of the heart, enhances the production of new blood cells, burns calories, saves lives and brings joy to many.
Mr. HPS Kanda (Vice Chairman- Quest Group of Institutions), who himself donated blood, was proud to see such overwhelming response, added that, “Blood donation is a great cause towards our society. The generosity of all our donors who have been a part of this blood donation drive brings great hope and courage for many needy patients.”
The Even staff members of the college extended their full co-operation and support to help all those in need of blood. Nearly 191 units of blood were collected from all the donors at the end of the camp. Quest Group of Institutions is always on the forefront of taking initiatives of this nature.
